Workforce Designs

Joe Davenport Joe Davenport, Founder and President of Workforce Designs, is a highly-experienced business professional who has an insatiable passion for helping companies improve the performance of their workforce. Joe sees himself as more than a consultant, and strives to earn the role of trusted strategic advisor with each and every client. He truly wants to make a difference with the people aspect of his client’s businesses. He has the inquisitiveness and knack for identifying the people issues that keep organizations from being “all they can be”, and then providing the solutions for clients to make the changes needed.

After serving clients as a business consultant for several years, he recognized a strong need for solutions to help them build and retain high performance workforces. He was introduced to Profiles International, Inc. in 2000 and decided he wanted to use their expertise in psychometrics and assessment technology to help his clients. Joe saw the long-term benefits of partnering with the world leader in selecting and developing great people through innovative human resource management solutions. As a result of the new partnership, Joe changed the name of his consulting practice from Davenport & Associates to Workforce Designs to reflect the new focus of his practice.

Prior to his affiliation with Profiles International, Joe had thirty (30) years of successful business management experience with companies that ranged from small, entrepreneurial businesses to Fortune 100 corporations. He worked in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, automotive, distribution, franchising, electronics and commercial real estate, and served successfully in numerous functions, including business development, international sales management, and general management.

After serving as a Strategic Business Partner of Profiles International for 10 years, Joe was invited to join the corporate staff of the company in 2010 to help increase sales and to coach a large team of Strategic Business Partners. While he greatly enjoyed helping Business Partners all over the country grow their businesses, he sincerely missed being able to work directly with business leaders to help them develop high impact workforces. As a result, he decided to leave the corporate office in 2012 so he could again return to his own company and serve as a Strategic Business Partner again.

Joe has lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, California and Texas, and now resides in Tennessee. His business endeavors over the years have enabled him to travel most of the United States and a good part of the world.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in Flint, Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Joe is a strong believer in volunteering time to help others in need. He has served on the boards of such organizations as Big Brothers Big Sisters, and started and conducted several church ministries. He also served on the boards of various professional associations, such as the American Industrial Real Estate Association (AIR) and a chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). He has been an active member of various Chambers of Commerce in the communities in which he resided. Joe enjoys speaking to groups to educate people about ways to create, build and retain the high performing workforce.

A devoted father of two adult children and a proud grandfather, Joe lives with his cancer-survivor Jack Russell Terrier.

Joe approaches his work with demonstrable passion because he is able to create a win/win/win situation for all parties in the workplace environment – the company, the manager and the employee. Joe uses his vast experience and an energy level that’s almost off the charts to inspire business managers to take their organization to the next level. Why settle for good, when an organization can be great?! Sometimes it requires changing attitudes and behaviors that stand between them and their goals so that they will not only succeed, but truly thrive!
